God is There

“Can anyone hide from me in a secret place? Am I not everywhere in all the heavens and earth?” says the Lord.” Jeremiah 23:24

In 1952, the American game show I’ve Got a Secret premiered on ABC. It was a lighthearted show in which a celebrity panel tried to determine a contestant’s secret: something that was unusual, amazing, embarrassing, or humorous about that person.

Trying to guess someone’s “secret” can make for an entertaining game show, but when it comes to God, there really is no such thing as a secret. Through Jeremiah the prophet, God asks his people, “Can anyone hide from me in a secret place?” The resounding answer is, “No.” There is no place we can go that God is not already there. He is everywhere in all the heavens and earth. 

God’s greatest gift to us is His constant presence. He is there in our greatest joy. He is there in our deepest sorrow. Even in the darkest times when you feel most alone and forsaken, God is there. He is on the highest mountain tops. He is in the lowest valleys. He is your ever-present help in times of trouble.* His promise is that he will never leave you or forsake you.** 

No matter where, God is there.
