God Prays for You

And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. Romans 8:26

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I get weary in the battle. Sometimes I feel like I am physically, spiritually or emotionally exhausted (or maybe some combination of all three). When I consider my circumstances, I don’t even know what to pray for. This verse brings me such hope, especially when I find myself with my back against the wall.

The Holy Spirit prays for us. Just take a minute to let that sink in. It bears repeating. The Holy Spirit prays for us. That means that God, the Holy Spirit, approaches God the Father on my behalf. Without even so much as a word, the Holy Spirit somehow pleads my case before the Father. And he does it, as Romans 8 goes on to say, in harmony with God’s own will.

At my lowest point when I don’t even know what to pray, God Himself is interceding on my behalf. And the result of his intercession? Verse 28 says “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
