God’s Incredible Plan

“God has now revealed to us his mysterious will regarding Christ—which is to fulfill his own good plan. And this is the plan: At the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ—everything in heaven and on earth.” Ephesians 1:9-10

I am not a planner. It’s not that I don’t like plans. It’s just that I’m not good at planning. I’m more of a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants kind of person. While I mean well, I sometimes make a mess of things. My Plan A often turns into a Plan B. To overcome this deficiency, I surround myself with people who are good at planning. Those wonderful people in my life keep me on track and make sure I follow through with important tasks.

God is a flawless planner. The Psalmist writes, “The Lord’s plans stand firm forever; his intentions can never be shaken.” (Ps. 33:11) When God makes a plan, it stands forever. Even though mankind managed to make a mess of things by introducing sin into the human race, it didn’t shake God’s plan.

Jesus is God’s plan A. Even before He made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. Paul says, “This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.”

God chose us in Christ, adopted us into His family and at the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ—everything in heaven and on earth. This is God’s incredible plan.
