I Will Carry You
“I will be your God throughout your lifetime— until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.” Isaiah 46:4
Isaiah begins this chapter with a description of the gods of Babylon and how, even though they are large in stature, they are powerless to protect those who carry them about on ox carts. And yet the God of Israel lovingly tells His people, “I have carried you before you were born.”
Isn’t that interesting? False gods are carried about the people who worship them, but those who worship the One True God are carried by Him before they are even born. What a stark contrast! God is not only there to carry us before we are born, He is there for us for a lifetime, whether you are eight years old, eighteen years old, or eighty-eight years old.
Even before you chose to choose Him, He was there for you. When you were sowing your wild oats and cursing His name, He was patiently waiting for you to turn to Him. “I made you,” says the Lord, “And I will care for you.”
He will be your God until your hair is white with age, when life becomes more challenging, when doctor visits become more regular, or when aches and pains become daily companions. Whether you are bounding with youth or wondering where that elderly person in the mirror came from, God promises to care for you, to carry you, and to save you.
You don't have to rely on your own strength; the one who made you will see you through.
