Inseparable

“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39

Love. It’s a basic human need. But love is not a new concept. All 66 books of the Bible, written by 40 authors over a period of 1400 years, exemplify this one central theme: love. Through the pages of God’s love letter, you will read of trials and triumphs, poetry and prophecy which all point to what Paul is about to share in Romans 8. It is here that Paul reminds us that those who are in Christ will never be separated from God’s love.

We all have insecurities, but God wants us to be secure in this one thing: that we are loved. We are loved with the kind of love that lays down its life for us. When we have trouble, calamity, or persecution, God’s love has not forsaken us. When we stray, make mistakes or say stupid things we regret, God’s love is there to redeem us.

If you feel lonely, worried, or afraid, you are safe in the shelter of His love. There is no power of hell nor one created thing that can ever cause God to say, “I don’t love you anymore.” His love is from everlasting to everlasting. His love is a never-ending circle that cannot be broken. Even death itself cannot separate us from the incredible love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus, our Lord.

When the fears for today and worries about tomorrow feel as if they might swallow you up, stop. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath and remember you are loved.
