It’s All Good

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Romans 8:28

All things work together for good, but not all things themselves are good. Certainly Joseph understood this. Before becoming the second most powerful man in all of Egypt, he was thrown into a pit, sold into slavery, lied about, wrongly accused, falsely imprisoned and forgotten. But Jospeh remained faithful to God through all those difficulties and after thirteen years, when he finally faced his brothers who had thrown him into the pit and sold him into slavery, he said to them, “God intended it all for good.”

Joseph learned patience, humility, and how to hear from God during those thirteen years. He developed stamina and godly character. He went from a teenage boy full of zeal to a powerful man whose faith had stood the test of time. God will take the circumstance in our lives and work them together for good, not just to create more comfortable circumstances, but to mold and shape us to look more like him.
