The Old Life is Gone

No Sunday Saints (1).png

“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” 2 Corinthians 5:17

I grew up in church, but as I once heard recording artist Keith Green say, going to church doesn’t make you a Christian any more than going to McDonald’s makes you a hamburger. Oh, I could act the part — at least for an hour or two on Sunday, but I was miserably lost and separated from God and honestly I didn’t even know it.

One Sunday morning made all the difference for me. I’m not saying you have to go to church to find God. I often say, I didn’t find God. God found me, seeing that I was the one who was lost. God just happened to find me on a Sunday morning in a church service. He may find you sitting in your easy chair, kneeling beside your bed, in your car or at your lowest moment in life. But one thing I know—I was changed that day. I was radically changed from the inside out. I didn’t know about this verse at the time, but I began to walk it out that day and every day since. I had become a new person.

When I look back at my life before Christ (my B.C.) I am not even sure who that person was anymore. My habits changed, my outlook on life changed, my worldview changed, my hopes and dreams changed. It was as if the person I was before had literally passed away. The old life was gone and a new life had begun. Even my attitude toward my fellow man completely changed. My desires changed. Everything changed. I understood for the first time what it meant to be born again.

If you have not experienced this new life in Christ, I urge you to turn your heart and life over to him today. In Him you will find life and He will transform you into a new person as your new life begins.
