Never Late

“There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time.” 1 Timothy 2:5-6

My husband has always been a person who is on time. I admire that about him, although I have no idea how he does it. Try as I might, I can never seem to be on time for anything. I’ve even tried using the “fake out time.” That’s when you tell yourself you have to leave a half an hour earlier so that you will actually leave on time. I guess I can’t fool myself because it never really works.

I’m glad that God is always on time. Sometimes I feel like God is late, but whatever God does, he does at just the right time. According to historians, things came together in history, making Christ’s birth in Bethlehem the ideal time for the Savior to be born. In Galatians 4, we read, “When the right time came, God sent his Son…”

Stories of God’s perfect timing fill the pages of Scripture. Even though God is not constrained by time and space as we are, he always steps in when the time is right. What appears to us as late is just the right time in God’s economy. God rarely does things on our timetable, but God is never late.
