New Strength

“But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31

Faith requires patience. That may not be the opening line you were hoping for, but before you scroll on by, it might be a good time to pause for a quick reality check. You are not alone. There is not a person reading this that has not spent time waiting. Nor one who has not become weary. “Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion,” Isaiah writes.

“But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.” Those who trust in the Lord is also translated as those who wait on, wait for, or hope in the Lord. Sometimes we feel like God has abandoned us in our battles. Israel understood this. They had become battle weary when the prophet Isaiah spoke these words of encouragement to them: “He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.”

You may be battle weary, but now is not the time to throw in the towel. Don’t abandon the mission. Keep waiting. Trust in the Lord. You may feel powerless, but the Lord gives power to the weak. Those who wait will walk, run, and eventually soar. You can wait on Him because He never grows weary. God will give you the strength to endure if you will only wait on Him.
