No Other Name

“There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12

God will share the limelight with no one. It’s not that God is egocentric. It’s just that there is no door number two, no plan B. And there’s a reason for that. Although everything as we know it had a beginning, God existed before it began. It was he who created the heavens and the earth, formed man from the dust of the earth, and breathed into man the breath of life. To worship something or someone other than God is to worship something he created. There is no way to God except through God. And that’s the beauty of it.

For even though we messed it all up and sin entered the world and was subsequently inherited by every generation to come, God saw it coming. Before he ever said, “Let there be light,” God planned a way to save us.

In Ephesians 1:4-5 we read “Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.”

Did you see those words: “even before” and “in advance?” God didn’t wait until we messed up to figure out a plan to bring us back into His family. When He laid the foundation of the world, it was already written in the blueprints. His plan would be Jesus. There would be salvation in no one else. No competition. The Creator of all things would make a way back to him, through him. God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. Why? Because this is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.
