Our Citizenship
“So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family." Ephesians 2:19
I had the great privilege of watching my Thai son-in-law receive his United States citizenship. It was a proud day for my family as he was being sworn in. My son-in-law is no longer a foreigner, but an American citizen. His new citizenship comes with certain privileges and responsibilities.
In Paul’s letter to the Philippians, he speaks of another citizenship that we have as members of God’s family. Our citizenship is in heaven. With that citizenship also comes certain privileges and responsibilities. We have the privilege of an unbroken relationship with God the Father through Jesus Christ as well as the power of the Holy Spirit living in us to lead, guide, and direct our lives. And we have the responsibility to share this incredible news with those around us.
