Speechless
“Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe.” Hebrews 1:1-2
Sometimes I close my eyes and quietly consider the many things about God that are simply overwhelming. That the God of creation, who spoke and planets appeared, would want an audience with me, often leaves me speechless. David must have been thinking the same thing when he wrote. “When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, What is man that You are mindful of him?”
Yet God is not just mindful of us, He longs to make Himself know to us. Like a Father narrating a story to his children, God is speaking through all of creation. The psalmist writes, “The heavens proclaim the glory of God… Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known.”
God speaks to us through creation. He has spoken to us through the prophets. And he speaks to us through his Son. Jesus Christ is the final revelation of God the Father. If you want to know what the Father is like, consider the Son. Jesus said, “Anyone who has seen me, has seen the Father.”
God is making himself known to you. He has spoken loud and clear through creation, through the prophets and through the Lord Jesus. Close your eyes for a moment and quietly consider that the God of heaven wants an audience with you - and, like me, you may just find yourself simply overwhelmed.
