The Inspired Word of God

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17

When you think about it, the Bible is probably the most remarkable book on the planet. Well, for starters, it’s not a book at all. It’s actually a collection of 66 books written by 40 authors over the span of 1500 years. The Bible was written by people from all walks of life. It was written by kings, fishermen, poets, doctors, shepherds and more. It was written on three continents, in sixteen countries and in three languages. How much more diverse can one book get? Yet from cover to cover the Bible tells one story, an incredible story of God working through history to restore a relationship with mankind.

How is it possible that such a diversely written collection of books can tell one story? I would imagine that if you got forty authors in a room today and asked them to write about the same subject, few of them would agree much less harmonize. What makes the Bible different is that it’s inspired. It is God-breathed. Forty human authors were all inspired by one Holy Spirit.

The inspired word of God is useful. It teaches. It corrects. It prepares and it equips. In its pages you will discover who God is and who you are in him. It has the power to change your life if you will embrace it.
