The Way of Faithfulness

“I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I have set my heart on your laws.” Psalm 119:30

Faithfulness is a choice. When my husband and I got married, we made a vow to forsake all others. We were young and oblivious to the struggles we would encounter over the next forty-plus years, but we knew that no matter what life would throw at us, we were determined and committed to handling it together. We vowed to be faithful to one another because faithfulness is a choice. It’s a choice you make every day over and over again.

In Psalm 119, David makes a declaration to the Lord. “I have chosen the way of faithfulness.” David understood that even though God is always faithful to us, we are not always faithful to Him. Israel was constantly running after other gods. You and I may not be chasing Baal or bowing down to golden calves, but we are often unfaithful to God when we lean on our own understanding instead of trusting Him in all things when we set our hearts on our ways rather than His.

No matter what life is throwing at you, be committed to trusting God in the process. Every day, over and over again, let us determine to choose the way of faithfulness.
