Tiny Pushes

“She extends a helping hand to the poor and opens her arms to the needy.” Proverbs 31:20

Helen Keller is quoted as saying, “The world is moved along, not only by the mighty shoves of its heroes, but also by the aggregate of tiny pushes of each honest worker.”

Some of the most memorable moments in my life were the tiny pushes of friends, neighbors, and family members. In my time of need or crisis, a meal was delivered, money was wired, an embrace was felt. Sometimes the greatest gift someone can give me is a listening ear or a helping hand. These tiny pushes collectively have given me strength and courage over the years. And many have made the difference for me between whether I trudge on or throw in the towel.

Proverbs 31 describes a virtuous wife - a woman we can all learn from. We may not be able to accomplish what we might think of as great things, but it’s the tiny pushes, the prayers in action, that collectively make the biggest difference in the world around us. After all, God often sends His help by way of human hands.
