Turning Worry Into Peace
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
Are you worried about something? Paul has a better option. Prayer. “Don’t worry about anything;” Paul says, “instead, pray about everything.” How do you turn worry into peace? “Tell God what you need and thank Him for all He has done.”
What if we made a list of the things we need and a second list of the things that God has done? Which list would be greater? When we weigh our needs against the things that God has done, there is no comparison. Even though our needs may be great and seem insurmountable, what God has done for us is unimaginable, beyond our ability to truly comprehend.
The Bible refers to these few years on earth as a vapor. Even if we live to be 100, we are all like flowers that stand and thrive in a field one day, and then fade with the sun. The needs for today may seem too great to overcome, but our great God has overcome every obstacle and given us victory through Jesus Christ.
When we consider the things that God has done for us, the things of the world become insignificant by comparison. When we tell God what we need and thank Him for all He has done, we can experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand.
Let the peace of God guard your hearts and minds today as you live in Christ Jesus.
