Unchangeable

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Hebrews 13:8

I recently watched an amusing video called “Time Travel Dietician.” The video is set in 1979 where a wife is cooking breakfast for her husband. A time traveler from the future comes in and says, “Stop! Don’t eat those eggs! They can dramatically increase your chance of a heart attack.” The time traveler leaves, but before the wife can remove the eggs, the time traveler pops back in and says, “Wait! We were wrong about the eggs. It’s all about the cholesterol. You can eat eggs, just don’t eat the yolks.” Before she can throw the eggs away, he’s back. And this time says, “We’re not even sure what cholesterol is. The eggs are probably fine. You can eat the eggs.”

Although I’m still not quite sure if it’s okay to eat eggs, I am sure that there is one thing that never ever changes and that is Jesus. He is the same today as He was yesterday and He will be the same forever. He is the unchangeable God. In a world where things are constantly changing, it’s a comfort to know that the One we look to for all our needs remains constant.

We don’t have to wonder if He will continue to be our Savior, our Provider, our Healer, our Hope, and our Peace. Jesus has been these things from the beginning of time and He will continue to be these things throughout eternity.
