Someone is Watching You

“It is God’s will that your honorable lives should silence those ignorant people who make foolish accusations against you. For you are free, yet you are God’s slaves, so don’t use your freedom as an excuse to do evil.” 1 Peter 2:15-16

If you want to know how you are really living your life, just have children. You can be assured they are watching you. There isn’t a thing you do that goes unnoticed. Sometimes my 3-year-old would stay with her great grandparents for a few hours while I would run errands. Once after a visit with them, she told me that her back was hurting. When I asked what she thought was wrong with her back, she replied, “It must be the weather.”

We should live every day as if someone was watching us. How we handle difficult times does not go unnoticed by others. Even when times are good our attitude is observed by those around us. There may be those who don’t like the way you handle things whether in good times or in difficult times, but Peter encourages believers to be careful to live properly among their unbelieving neighbors. That way even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world.

“Your honorable lives will silence those ignorant people,” he says, “who make foolish accusations against you.” As they say, “Be careful how you live. You may be the only Bible some people will ever read.”
