Truth

“And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32

Lee Strobel, author of A Case for Christ, was an atheist. When his wife announced that she had become a believer, he embarked on a journey to find the truth. He had heard about the resurrection, but he didn't believe it. He felt what he was being told was opinion, not truth. As a former Chicago Tribune legal affairs reporter, Strobel used his investigative skills in an attempt to disprove the resurrection. By the end of his journey, Strobel realized his atheism simply didn’t hold up against the evidence. He became convinced that the resurrection of Jesus wasn't just something that people believed had happened but that it was something that actually did happen. Lee Strobel became a believer.

The Bible says, “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” The Bible isn't merely an inspirational book of opinions; it's a book of truth. People are not swayed by opinions and ideas; they are swayed by truth. The Bible is filled with facts written by real people throughout history. The Bible is God's way of telling us about Himself—His nature, His attributes, and His plans and purposes. The truth of God’s word does more than merely inform, it will set you free.
