Do You Believe This?

“...‘I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die’...” John 11:25-26

These are the words Jesus spoke to Martha at the tomb of her brother Lazarus who had recently passed away. He then begged the question, “Do you believe this?” This was a powerful theological truth that Jesus was asking Martha to consider during a very volatile time in her life. Facing death is never easy. Martha did not know that Jesus was about to raise Lazarus from the dead, but he wanted her to know that even though Lazarus would live to die again there is hope beyond the grave. That hope is in Jesus Christ himself.

Anyone who lives in Jesus and believes in him well never ever die. This means that even though we will all experience physical death, there is spiritual life beyond the grave. Jesus willingly chose to die for our sins and he will raise us up together with Him to live eternally beyond this short life that we are now passing through. He is the resurrection and the life. Believe in Him and you too will live.
